Satellite TV

We've come a long way from Project SCORE - which was the worlds’ first communications satellite launched in December 1958.  In 1962 the first satellite television signal was relayed from Europe to the TELSTAR satellite over North America.  Since then, world technology has developed and launched approximately 300 operational orbiting satellites, which enable both communication and television programming around the world.

   

   Puerto Rico       DIRECTV Puerto Rico is a 100% digital satellite entertainment service, providing  the best and most complete programming available, feeding off the Galaxy 3C North America Region satellite at 95W.  There have been many changes with regard to satellite TV and DirecTv PR has kept up with these changes.  We are now offering DVR and HD receivers to our marine customers, therefore giving you the best in picture quality available today.

 
Programming -
DirecTv PR has a new a Programming Package that provides better content and options for you.  For new customers, there are three main packages to choose from, each of which you can add the Premium options and Networks option to at any time.  Premium options consist of HBO, Cinemax, Showtime and Starz.  Add one or all five of these options for superior programming.  Also, Adult Programming, NFL and Pay-Per-View events are available when requested.


Here’s how to get started

Galaxy Latin American receivers (IRD) are necessary to receive GLA programming.
Please ask about current hardware models and pricing.

DirecTv charges a $74.00 one-time Membership Fee per main receiver.  You could have multiple receivers and mirroring is based on groups of three receivers, with a $4.99 premium on the second and third receiver in each group.  Programming prices are based on a one year contract that may be “suspended” for months at a time while you are out of the viewing footprint.

Advanced Marine Systems will set up your account, order and activate your hardware and have it ready for plug and play.  We charge a minimum fee** for activation /re-activation, which also provides you with consistent account support while cruising the GLA footprint.
Once we have set you up with your equipment and account, you become the client of DirecTv Puerto Rico. Programming charges are automatically debited from your credit card monthly.

Hardware Prices and Fees
There are a few one-time-only start-up fees which apply to each contract.  DishNetwork charges the first two months of programming when account is first set up.

Accounts
Each account is based on 6 receivers. There is a $5.00 charge per month for each additional receiver in the account. Example: If you requested America’s Everything and have six receivers on the account you would pay $87.98 + $5.00 + $5.00 + $5.00 + $5.00 + $5.00 = $112.98 per month. You can have more than one account when you have over 6 receivers.

For all Yachts that are U.S. owned/flagged the accounts can have up to 6 receivers per account. If you are not US Flagged, we will require the ships Registration Documents and USA Entry Clearance Papers, to comply with FCC Regulations.  All vessels must be in US waters for activation process.  Any customer that cannot provide this documentation will have to set up each receiver with its own separate account.  Please ask for more information regarding this point.
Because our customers own their receivers, there is no commitment with regard to a 24 month account.  This allows our customers to place their account(s) on pause for up to 6 months at $5 per month, or they can cancel the account, but may have to pay a $25 restart fee if applicable.

Also keep in mind, DishNetwork bill in advance, so any time an account is started or restarted, the first bill is for the first two months, minus any remaining credits from when the customer cancelled their account.
There are several programming options for you to choose from and prices will vary with each.

Other Sat TV Options –

CANAL SAT CARAIBES on I 903 at 34.5W – is a Direct Broadcasting Satellite service serving the French islands of the Caribbean -  Guadeloupe, Martinique, as well as French Guyana with 205 predominately French language channels.  As of 2008 – Canal Sat also offers 8 HD channels.


SKY MEXICO on I9/16 at 58W - founded in 1996, SKY MEX offers subscription television service in the Mexico, Central America and Dominican Republic areas and offers 184 channels - 23 of those offered in HD and predominately in Spanish language.


FTA (Free To Air) Multi-Cultural on G19 at 97W - Launched in 2008 - is a direct-to-home provider of FTA and Nagravision-encrypted ethnic television and audio channels via the Galaxy 19 satellite.  World TV is a division of GlobeCast, which is owned by French telecom giant France Telecom and offers over 60 FTA channels in multi-language.  FTA channels on G19 can be received in most parts of the Caribbean, USA including Hawaii and southern Canada and Mexico with a 75cm (30") diameter dish and any MPEG-2 DVB compliant FTA receiver. A minimum marine antenna size of 1m is required for effective Caribbean service.
